Indri Labs vs MicroAGI: robots on the line or data to your spec.

MicroAGI is a Munich robotics deployment company: its Atlas platform records manual work inside factories, trains models on it and puts robots on the line, drawing on an egocentric data corpus it says has passed 100,000 hours. Indri Labs is a data sourcing service for AI labs: you describe the training data you need, and we license it from the companies that hold it, film first-person video to your spec and deliver one merged dataset. Choose MicroAGI if you run a plant and want robots working in it; choose Indri Labs if you are a lab buying data to your own spec.

What is MicroAGI?

MicroAGI, which styles its name microagi, describes itself as a robotics deployment company and a data research lab working on end-to-end physical AGI. It was founded in 2025, is headquartered in Munich and has a research hub in Zurich and offices in London and New York. In July 2026 it announced a $55 million seed round led by Hummingbird, with Northzone, LocalGlobe, Village Global and redalpine, and a compute partnership with Google Cloud and NVIDIA.

Its product is Atlas. MicroAGI says Atlas starts with a scoping study on a customer's site, then records the manual work on the line with its own capture hardware, without teleoperation or stopping production. It rebuilds the workstation in its Munich workshop, fine-tunes the best available model for the task and installs a robot from partners such as Unitree. It says it does not build robots or models, that it rents the working system rather than selling it, and that it is paid only if the robot works.

How does MicroAGI collect egocentric data?

MicroAGI says its proprietary data engine is a record of how physical work is performed, collected from people in homes, farms and factories, and that it passed 100,000 hours in July 2026. It builds its own capture hardware and lists a hip-worn rig, multi-camera headsets, camera glasses and a tactile glove that records force as well as movement.

Its consumer arm, Shift, is a contribution platform where people record short videos of everyday tasks to train robotics and AI systems. Shift says contributors work as independent contractors, are paid for accepted recordings, and that it blurs faces and personal information. Tech Funding News reported that Shift contributors record cleaning tasks on head-mounted cameras, and Semafor reported that MicroAGI has exclusively licensed some of its data to frontier AI labs.

What does Indri Labs do?

Indri Labs sources proprietary training data for AI labs as a service. It is not a marketplace or a catalog. You describe the need: modality, volume, coverage across regions, languages and edge cases, format, rights and deadline. We scope it for free and send a one-page brief that names and prices every source, includes a sample from each, gives the total data cost and shows our fee on its own line. You can walk away owing nothing.

If you approve, you sign one contract and pay one invoice, with us. We negotiate a license with every seller, usually companies that have never sold their data, and record what doesn't exist yet, such as first-person video on smart glasses and head cameras filmed to spec. You receive one merged dataset with duplicates and personal data removed, checked against your spec, with the source and license for every record, in your format. More on egocentric video data.

How do MicroAGI and Indri Labs compare?

The two companies sit at different points in the robotics stack. MicroAGI uses data to put robots to work for industrial customers. Indri Labs delivers datasets to the labs that train models. Statements about MicroAGI below come from its own site and press coverage, listed under sources, as of October 2026.

When is MicroAGI the better choice?

  • You run a factory or industrial operation and want robots doing a specific task on your line, not a dataset.
  • You want your own workers recorded and a model fine-tuned on your plant's tasks and edge cases.
  • You want engineers on site through installation, safety and handover, which MicroAGI says it provides.
  • You want the data from your plant to stay with you on European infrastructure, which MicroAGI says is its policy.
  • You need tactile or force data from gloves today; Indri Labs lists sensor and robotics data as coming soon.

When is Indri Labs the better choice?

  • You are an AI lab and want a licensed dataset, not a robot deployment.
  • You need first-person video filmed to your own spec: tasks, settings, regions, devices and edge cases.
  • You want egocentric video combined with other data, such as operational logs, calls and meetings, or documents.
  • You want every source named and priced before you commit, and the source and license for every record after.
  • You want several sellers handled under one contract and one invoice.

How should you choose an egocentric data provider for robotics?

  • Output: decide whether you need a robot that works or a dataset to train your own models.
  • Rights: ask who owns each recording, whether a license is exclusive, and what it allows.
  • Spec: check that tasks, environments, devices and camera placement match what your model will see.
  • Privacy: ask how faces, bystanders and personal data are removed, and who checks it.
  • Samples: get footage from every source before you commit.

Questions, answered.

What is MicroAGI?

MicroAGI (styled microagi) is a Munich robotics deployment company founded in 2025. Its Atlas platform records manual work inside factories, fine-tunes models on that data and installs robots from partners such as Unitree. In July 2026 it raised a $55 million seed round led by Hummingbird, which it calls the largest seed round in German history.

Does MicroAGI collect egocentric data?

Yes. MicroAGI says its proprietary data engine holds more than 100,000 hours of physical work recorded from people in homes, farms and factories, captured on its own hardware: hip rigs, multi-camera headsets, camera glasses and tactile gloves. Its Shift app pays contributors to record everyday tasks with a headset.

Is Indri Labs a MicroAGI alternative?

For AI labs buying training data, yes. MicroAGI's main product deploys robots in factories. Indri Labs takes a description of the data a lab needs, names and prices every source in a free brief, licenses the data and films first-person video to spec, then delivers one merged dataset. For a manufacturer that wants robots on its line, Indri Labs is not an alternative.

Can AI labs buy data from MicroAGI?

Semafor reported in July 2026 that MicroAGI has exclusively licensed some of its data to frontier AI labs. MicroAGI's own website presents Atlas, its robot deployment platform, as its product and does not list a dataset catalog, so ask the company directly about licensing terms.

Which is better for first-person video to a custom spec?

It depends on who you are. A manufacturer that wants its own workers recorded to train robots for its own line fits MicroAGI's Atlas. An AI lab that wants first-person video filmed to its own spec, on smart glasses or head cameras, with the source and license for every record, fits Indri Labs.
